Classic City Kiwanis Presents Check to Special Olympics

On Wednesday, April 26, 2006, the Classic City Kiwanis Club in Athens presented a check for $1,000.00 to Kathy Smith, Director of the Special Olympics program for Athens, Georgia. Andy Ullrich, Lt. Governor of the 7th District of Georgia Kiwanis and member of the Classic City club, presented the check at their weekly breakfast meeting held at the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School.

"This is an annual donation we make with great pride because of all the great things Special Olympics does for their children, especially in the Athens area," Andy stated.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time (Kiwanis defining statement, adopted October, 2004). With more than 13,000 Clubs in 79 Countries and over 600,000 Members, their mission is "serving the children of the world" through fund raisers and volunteered time.
